An overlapping Life Line of a 27 year old who recently moved abroad.
The Life Line shows the quality of one’s stability, their structure, routine, security, sense of feeling grounded, their vitality and health. It relates very much to ones base, roots and home. It is also the line on the hand in which events can be most clearly seen and timed. These events are of course always subjective to the person and show their relationship to them rather than the specifics of the event itself.
The Double Life Line
Some people do not have a clear single line, but have two. This can present in many different forms, but the example I am referring to in this instance is when there is a break in the line and an overlap of some kind.
The overlap and change in the life line signifies a change in the person, relating to aspects of the home and family. In my experience around 80% of the people with this mark will have considered or actually have moved abroad. The exceptions to the rule are 1). when someone is young and the break corresponds to 25 30+ years of age (measured chronologically down the line) and this aspect of themselves has not yet manifested; 2). when the person has a very close and intimate relationship with their family, which means the shift and change is merely moving out of the family home, village or town or 3). when there does not appear to be a physical move or change on the horizon, but there will without question be a psychological shift of some measure.
The person with a double Life Line or with an overlap has a specific psychological desire for exploration and some form of change. They will feel a need to branch out, explore and see a new side of life. There is a need to experience something different from their upbringing and this always manifests as a relative sense of curiosity and adventure.
If there is a period of time when both lines run in parallel, this can be difficult for the person. Depending on which line is most prominent (the outer or inner) shows where the person is most likely to be (at home or in a different country). If there is a strong doubled area it can be very difficult to know where to live and how to feel and understand your relationship to your family. It is very common for the person not to know if they should stay abroad or go home.
Overlapping Life Line
People are incredibly complex and with the hand and a person’s psyche, one can see hundreds of dualities and seemingly paradoxical patterns. Someone can be confident in many areas, but not in others. Extroverted, but introverted, emotionally open, but with a tendency to repress the double life line falls under this category.
The person needs to understand that they have a side of themselves that is close to home. They can feel attached to their family and have an appreciation of their roots. However their need to explore is strong and they would feel very caged in if they were to stay at home; distancing themselves is often necessary. Understanding they have both qualities is key; an awareness of their situation and it’s complexity is imperative.
When it is understood that a closeness to home is within, yet not clear cut, this completely eases the persons mind. They can except they feel close to home but still respect their desire for change and movement. In understanding themselves and the duality or their nature, they can relax and feel much more comfortable knowing and trusting both their feelings. They no longer have to force themselves to feel comfortable with only one.
It would be the same as a performer or showman never having alone time, or a leader and organiser never being passive and relaxed. People are complex, and must appreciate the diversity of their feelings. As with most issues or problems, insight, understanding and acceptance usually provides the answers. The person with a double life line (stronger on the outside overlap) must explore and open themselves up to the world, whilst acknowledging and excepting fondness for family. They will then be able to live happily wherever they choose, whilst having a nostalgic connection and maintaining contact with their original base. When you do not fight these feelings they can be as simple as a painter who also likes to go jogging.

What happens of you have 3 unbroken life lines?
Hi Jenn, I would have to see the lines before commenting. Three unbroken life lines would be extremely rare and I have a suspicion the fate line might be acting as one.
I have a 2 full very strong life lines on my right hand. They start together at first as single line and then separately runs parallel as two strong life lines across my right hand.
I full very strong life line on my left hand
What about this double line would… Double a very short life line just till its end? Wouldn t that mean a short life though? ? Thank you!

Thank you for writing this. I had a psychic reading done what feels like many many years ago, the woman stopped to check my hands and was flabbergasted by my double life lines and couldn’t explain what it may mean. In modern hand analysis, the right and left and do not in fact show past and future, they show the ‘inner and outer worlds’ and different sides to our personality. The left hand would be your personal private self, who your family and close friends see. The right hand is how you present yourself to the world, who your work colleagues and acquaintances meet. Think about it as the left hand being how you feel internally and privately, while the right hand is an outer manifestation. I hope this helps

By far the most accurate description I’ve read for a double life line. I appreciate how you related it to the person’s thought process rather than jumping to the physical results of having such a feature.
I have two life lines partly overlapping. I have just found out (at the age of 53) that I am not the biological child of my parents. I was mixed up with another child at the hospital where I was born. Do you think this is why I have two life lines?

However, remember that the hands show our personal and psychological interpretations of events, so if this discovery coincides with your overlapping life line and it has had some psychological impact it could indeed be related. Hi Lawrence. I seem to have a bit of a unique (left, only) palm. I have a double life line — two distinct lines separating directly off of the head line. One branches off directly at the start of the head line directly at the section between my index finger and thumb (where it should) and the other life line branches off directly near my fate line and runs parallel to it. Both are strong, distinctive lines that end at the bottom of my palm. I only have this on my left palm, not my right. I’m curious because from the information I’ve seen online, my palm appears to be quite unique. I also am a gifted individual on many other levels; have always been told I seem “psychic” to people, I have synesthesia (auditory tactile and chromesthesia), and have been told I seem like a changeling (jokingly, in a sweet way). I’ve never had my palms read and I’m just wondering if there is any source material I can find about this divergence? My life lines (two) do not intersect, and they don’t break off from one another; they are two distinct, long, individual lines that don’t branch off of anything other than the head line. To add to my last comment, I’m saying I have 5 lines (all very strong) with 2 life lines on my left palm, and only 4 lines (only 1 distinct life line) on my right palm.
I have what looks like two complete life lines, one very close to the thumb on the left hand and similar on the right though the line close to the thumb on the right hand has a bit of a break. I assume as both are continuous they have a different meaning to the one you have explained here.
Not Just 2 I have 3 life lines on my right Hand and 2 on left, very deep and heavily marked…..

I would first like to say that I am a big fan of yours but I’m confused about the mars line………..over the years I have come to understand that this line represents a ‘fighting spirit’ a person who bounces back after illness or perhaps an aggressive person. Or does the definition totally depend on other major lines? Or is it significant on how close this line is to the life line?

A strong line on Mars, or a large Mars area adds the ‘Mars’ qualities to the hand; courage, bravery, fight, fortitude, strength and perhaps anger and frustration. As with everything it’s best to read this within the context of everything on hand. On an earth-type hand it might make someone is a force of nature, with enormous energy. They might be competitive in sport or spend all day chopping wood with passion and vigour. If on a water hand, it will add fight and determination, but this person might express it through healing or helping people, perhaps they are an advocate for or willing to fight for a good cause.
Thinking about the Mars line as adding a ‘fighting spirit’ and possible aggression is totally correct. I hope this helps

I have a “sister” lines on both hands.
But on pretty different ways on each, the little sister lines are connected to the long, strog ones by a little line though on each palm.
However, on the left one, I have a long one (strating from head line) and the short sister one runs inside of it (direction Mars mount), similar to the pic with overlapping lines (my second line is much shorter though).
On the right one I have a long and strong line running pretty near to the thumbs. And I have a second one running parallel, starting from the long one by a little line, but outside of it, so far away from thumb.
And this second one is much shorter and more vague.
What does it mean please?
… so I mean: does it significant/matter if this sister line runs outside or inside of the life line? 🙂

Thanks for your message. Without seeing your hands, an additional line running alongside the life line adds extra strength to the life line and also gives it a doubling effect. Meaning, the root, structure, stability etc that the life line represents could be doubled in some way (someone might have a second home or feel very close to their parents and the house they grew up in). If the extra line is outside of the life line, this is more adventurous and explorative, if it is within it is more supportive and conservative.

Can I say how spot on this is! I have just realized that I actually have a double life line. The inner line is short (till about 35 years of age) and for a long time I thought it was because I will have a short life (but I never felt like it, I feel like I will live long). Then one day, a light bulb appeared and I thought to myself, “hey, what if the other line is also my life line?”. So the outer life line overlaps a bit with the inner one (starts age 20ish ) but then continues all the way down, then branches into two almost equally thin lines then both continue as far down as possible.
When reading your post about double life line and moving abroad, I was like OMG. Here I am, abroad, fighting with my home family to accept that I love living abroad and I just can’t go back! I have lived in other countries too and I can’t imagine myself moving back to my country because it feels like such a “small” area to exist in (if that makes sense). I need more than one country and this is what I am. It made me happy to see it in my palm, I feel like at least the Universe understands me!
Secondly, I found the overlap interesting. It overlaps sometime after 20 years old and goes till 35 years old. I agree that exactly during this time I felt like living a double life, one being my life abroad and second one being my family back home trying hard to pull me back and always reminding me that I have my own country and to come back to them (parents and grandparents tried their hardest to bring me back). Emotionally difficult. Since my inner life line stops at age 35, what will it mean? And what does it mean when my outer life line branches out (age 55ish) into two thin lines than keep going till very old age?
